BLOOD SEANCE is a fast paced haunted house thriller with a riveting 1940s backstory.

When Glen Kellerman moves his family out of their cramped condo in Beverly Hills and into a beautiful old mansion in the Pacific Palisades, he thinks he's found the perfect place to make a fresh start - but their bright new beginning soon takes a darker turn.

Sometimes the dead have unfinished business...

Moving shadows, disembodies whispers, and night terrors are just the tip of the iceberg. Something much more sinister is coming for his daughter, Ginny - something that has been festering for over sixty years.

A bloody ritual from beyond the grave...

As the house's violent history begins to unfold, Glen realizes he must put everything on the line to save his daughter, and himself, before it's too late.

The Unfortunate Demise of Ian Henry

After I published my first novel, Alexandria, I went back to work on a number of horror stories I’d been writing.  Most of the advice out there says that if you switch genres, you should also switch names in order to avoid confusion.  I didn’t want readers picking up Blood Seance and expecting it to be a young adult sci-fi/fantasy novel (and vice-versa), so I published it under the pen name “Ian Henry.”  Since then, I’ve seen plenty of authors who have succeeded with multiple genres in their backlists, plus I was sort of feeling like I had multiple-personality disorder trying to maintain social media presences for two different author names.

So… I decided to kill off Ian Henry.  No offense, he was a great guy, but the time had come.

From now on, I’ll be publishing everything as John Kaden.  I will make sure to clearly state the genre and content warnings in each book’s description, so you know what you’ll be getting.

Right now, I’m working on more horror stories, but I’ve also got a dark fantasy project on the burner - plus, down the road, I intend to revisit the world of Alexandria and continue Jack and Lia’s story.

Anyway, that’s the rundown.  Happy reading, and feel free to drop me a line anytime at johnkadenbooks@gmail.com.

Future ALEXANDRIA Sequel and More News

I've had a number of people ask whether or not there will be a sequel to Alexandria, so I wanted to take a moment to fill everybody in.  First of all, thanks to everyone who downloaded the book and read it.  I've got lots of great reviews and it's thrilling for me that people seem to be enjoying it.  I definitely had a great time writing it.  This was my first full length novel and I wasn't sure what to expect.

My favorite genre happens to be horror, so Sci-fi/Adventure was a little bit of a stretch for me.  I had originally envisioned the book as being all-inclusive - it has a full beginning, middle and end - with no cliffhangers.  I really took a liking to it, though, and I would love to continue the story.  There's a lot more that could happen in the world.  I've got a folder on my desktop titled 'The Frontier of Unknown Fate,' which is the working title for the Alexandria sequel.  I've got some ideas, but I'm still searching for the perfect plot-line, and the folder sits mostly empty, waiting to be filled.  So, for now, Alexandria will remain a stand-alone novel.  But when the right idea strikes me, I will definitely continue the story.

In the meantime, I've been working on a horror novel, which is almost finished.  The book is wildly different, not just in terms of genre, but also in terms of content.  There is profanity and some gore, so in order to avoid confusion (since Alexandria is a relatively clean book, except for some graphic violence), I will be publishing my horror novels under the name 'Ian Henry.'

The novel is called Blood Seance.  It's a haunted house novel with an old Hollywood backstory.  I've got a new blog dedicated to my horror writing, and I'd love for you to check it out.  If horror is not your thing, I will eventually be writing more Sci-fi/Fantasy/Adventure novels - and you can look for news about those new releases here.  If, however, you are a fan of both genres, please check out my new blog at (UPDATE - no longer active).  There is a sample chapter and a synopsis of the story.  I will have it live on Amazon by mid- to late October.

Best wishes to everyone, and feel free to drop me a line at johnkadenbooks@gmail.com.

Thanks again,

John
